Financing to enhance affordability

 

Creating affordable homes isn’t just about providing financing to keep monthly housing costs low. It is also about making sure the homes we create are healthier, more energy-efficent and climate-friendly places for people to live.

MHP has answered the call with its Green & Healthy Housing Programs, which offers long-term financial incentives to developers and owners who incorporate green and healthy features into their affordable multifamily properties.

Since 2019, MHP has made 33 loan commitments to developers and owners through this program, representing over 1,600 units and $134 million in permanent financing.

MHP has also partnered with MassHousing to offer Climate Ready Housing, a state-funded pilot program designed to show how owners can achieve deep reductions in energy use and carbon emissions in the refinancing, renovation, and preservation of their affordable housing properties.
